So this weekend, we went to Boise to see Steve & Nicole and to go to the Boise Roadster Show. We left Friday after work and headed up. This was our first car trip over 2 hours with the dogs, so we knew it could be interesting. But we put them in their soft travel kennels and they did awesome! They are such good little travelers when they're in there! We did let them out occasionally, but they never sit still always moving from lap to lap! The drive only took about 4 1/2 hours so we had some time to visit with Steve & Nicole when we arrived. This was not our first visit to Boise to see them, but it was the first time we saw the house they've been renting! It's a cute house and I really loved it! Some of the colors are a bit odd, but nothing too extreme!
On Saturday we woke up, had biscuits and gravy and headed to the Boise roadster show! It was about half the size of Autorama and I really liked it! It was so nice to see some different cars for a change! We also got some more ideas for the '33! A few of my favorites from the show:
I loved this orange Ford truck!
Awesome little '33!
Cute little Milk Truck!
Afterward, we went around town shopping (more window shopping than buying, but it was still fun!) We also got to go see the progress on Steve & Nicole's new house! There's not much there yet, but it's only been a week since it was started so having foundations, footings and a driveway is a great start. They also had all of the wood there to start framing this week! I'm so excited for them!
We were trying to come up with an activity to do that night when Monster Trucks was suggested. The Monster Jam was in town so we decided to go. I was a little excited and a little hesitant; I'd never been to monster trucks before and had no idea what to expect! (Honest confession: I had no idea that there was actually a point to monster trucks. They have race around the track and then a freestyle section! What a sheltered girl I am!) It was actually pretty fun! I can see how it's incredibly exciting for little kids because all of the little kids there were ecstatic!
We got up early Sunday and had pancakes and then hit the road. It was a pretty uneventful trip home except that we stopped in Ogden to see AJ's new house! It's so cute and so is his new puppy roommate, Penny! I'm so excited for AJ! It's so weird because all of our friends our age are now homeowners! (It's so weird to be "real" adults with jobs and bills and houses! It wasn't too long ago that all of those things were "someday" to us and now they're "today"!)
A few things I learned this weekend:
- I have been spoiled growing up in Utah with it's grid street system. I usually have a decent idea where I am and where I'm going, but I was totally lost in Boise and couldn't have found my way around to save my life! I tired really hard all weekend to pay attention in the car and figure out where we were, but I was unable to. I missed my Utah grids!
- I have also been sheltered growing up in Utah. At any event in Utah (Autorama, ball game, etc.) you can purchase beer, but that's it. At the monster jam, you could buy beer, wine, and even cocktails. And even more shocking, you could buy double cocktails! You can't even buy a double in a bar in Utah, let alone at an arena! What a sheltered little life I lead!
- I love my husband more than ever before! He always treats me so good, probably even better than I sometimes deserve! He is definitely my soul mate and I'm lucky he is mine!
