I'm still recuperating from Autorama, but I want to recap it anyways.
Thursday: I wasn't able to go down for setup because I had to teach clinicals, but Kyle and his dad went down and had fun.
Friday: After work, AJ, Kyle and I went down to start the weekend of walking. We stopped at Arby's for dinner and headed to the show. Everything was great! I love Autorama because it's the start of the car show season in Utah which means we get to see all of our cruiser friends again! Every year at Autorama, they have a pin-stripers auction to raise money for the charity Hugs For Life, which supports suicide prevention and awareness. We took 2 purses down: 1 for me and 1 to donate for their auctions. I got a red purse with white pin-striping and I love it. It was done by a pin-striper named Bruno Perry. He is amazing!!!
Saturday: On Saturday my dad and his friend came down. I think they had a blast, plus we get in an hour before the public with our exhibitor passes. We had a blast at the auctions that day. We ended up with some really cool signs, a trash can and a vase. In the afternoon, Tracy & I met my sister at Fashion Place Mall so I could spend some gift cards I had received for Christmas. I'm so glad they went with me because they helped me buy colors I never would have bought! They helped me step outside my comfort zone and I appreciate them for it! I think Caitie had a blast at Autorama with us. I love that she'll hang out with my friends and come to all of our wacky car stuff. She also ended up with a cool pin-striped panel thanks to my dear hubby. (I am so grateful and lucky that my husband and sister get along so well! They are my two very bestest friends in the whole world and it's so great that they not only get along, but like each other as well.)
Our Pinstripe Winnings!
Sunday: We rode down to Autorama with Kyle's parents so we would only have to worry about getting the Mustang home. Sunday was pretty much the same as Saturday. We walked around a ton, b.s.'d with more friends and familiar faces and probably spent more than we should have at the auction (again we got some cool signs, and Kyle got me some ornaments for our Chirstmas tree!) One thing I absolutely love is an idea I borrowed from Tracy. She had a panel pin-striped with her name on it for her name plate at work and school. I decided to have one made that said Nurse Alex on it for my office door at work. Well it turned out so freaking amazing that I think I'll have to make a nice scan of it for my office door and keep the original safe at home. This was the first year at Autorama I was able to attend awards. And it may be my last because the awards were quite dull (I read almost the entire time). I think next year I'll stay back with all of the other wives and start breaking down our set-up as best we can.
My Awesome Door Sign!
All in all, it was a great weekend! I just love spending time with my third family: the cruisers!
That's a good idea, using a "copy" of your name plate.
