...a special day...

Today started early with work, and then I headed to Salt Lake for my aunt Angie's funeral. She was a strong, inspirational woman who showed what it truly means to fight cancer.

After the funeral, my dad had to go back to work so mom, Caitie, and I decided to go out to lunch. Lunch turned into shopping, which turned into a great mother/daughter day. I can't remember the last time the three of us spent time together like that. We hadn't planned to spend the day together, but it just sort of fell into place (I was staying in Salt Lake anyhow to meet Kyle later for a cruise night.)

We went to lunch at one of our favorite Mexican Restaurants in Salt Lake, Morelia. Then we went to Dress Barn to exchange a dress for my mom and she had Caitie and me try on summer dresses for fun. She ended up buying us each a summer dress! (Thanks again mom!) Then I suggested that we go to a swimsuit store, Lime Ricki, that I had wanted to go to (see post "A few things I've had my eye on" to see the swimsuit). Caitie and I both found super cute swimsuits!

When we got home, we just hung out and chatted. When my dad got home, we went out to dinner to this wonderful Italian restaurant (can't remember the name, sorry). It was a great dinner, and hopefully they enjoyed it because today is their 26th anniversary! (Congrats mom & dad!) It's times like these that remind me how much I miss spending time with my family. I'm so busy when I'm in school and with work that I don't get to see them very often. Thanks again mom & dad for lunch, dinner and the dress!

I finished the day just relaxing and watching TV with my hubby. (The best way to end any day!)

Today celebrated many things: the life of a great woman, the relationship between a mom and her daughters, the love of a family and the marriage of two wonderful people. I never thought that today would turn out so special, but I'm glad it did.
