campfire and s'mores

Friday afternoon rolls around. Kyle & I both get home from work. We both want to go out for dinner and/or go out and do something (but we wait for the other person to suggest something before agreeing that it would be great to go out).

Tonight, Kyle is the brave one. He finally tells me that he wants to have a campfire and make s'mores. But he wants a real campfire in the woods, not in a fire pit in someone's backyard (it was like he read my mind because my first thought was that we could just backyard it).

So I send out the alert to Tracy, AJ & Mat. Within 30 minutes, we had decided to buy a bucket of KFC, go to a campground in Manua, build a fire, eat dinner then make s'mores.

Once we picked our spot at the campground, Kyle & Mat went back in to Brigham City to get the KFC and the s'mores necessities. Tracy, Royce, Hudson, AJ, and I stayed back to try and start our fire (Tracy, Hudson & I mostly just watched the boys do it). It was hard to get our fire going because most everything was damp, but we managed after a while. Little Hudson was mesmerized by the fire once we got it going. I think this was his first campfire!

It was a great night! Just hanging out with friends, eating dinner, making s'mores and then conducting silly "experiments" with the marshmallows, empty glass bottles, and the fire.

While I enjoy going out places and doing "planned" activities with my friends, I really enjoy these spur-of-the-moment, relaxing evenings too. Sometimes hanging out is better than going out.
