Friday night, Kyle & I went to Texas Roadhouse for my birthday dinner. We sat at the bar to get seated quicker and I'm glad we did. I did their call ahead seating program and was given the number 819. By the time we left, they were seating 809. I love sitting at the bar anyhow for a few reasons:
- quicker seating
- your waitress is always at hand
- your drinks get refilled quicker
What's not to love?
After dinner, we went to Kyle's mom & dad's house because Steve & Nicole came to town for Conference weekend. It was good to see them. We've lucked out and seen them a lot since Christmas and we'll see them again in May (Nicole's sister is getting married in Salt Lake).
Saturday morning I did a bit of cleaning and laundry before we ran some errands. We went to Checker's to buy some new shocks and struts for my cobalt. We've been meaning to change them (and by "we", I mean Kyle has been meaning to change them and I was aware of that) but Checker's is running a rebate special on shocks and struts so now's the time!
We also went to Baskin Robbins to get my ice cream cake. For as long as I can remember, I've had an ice cream cake for my birthday. My ultimate preference is mint chocolate chip ice cream with chocolate cake. We didn't pre-order a cake and to get the cake I wanted, we ended up with a cute dinosaur cake:
I actually love this cake! I thought it was cute and it was the flavors I wanted, so it was perfect! I received some great gifts this year! I already have my nook that Kyle bought me early. Steve & Nicole gave me a gift card to Barnes & Noble (so I can furnish my nook) and Kyle's parents gave me a gift card to Old Navy (new spring clothes!) and a cute reproduction of a WWII-era medic bag! It's so cute! I love it!
A few more birthday pics:
On Saturday night we went to T.G.I. Fridays and had some appetizers (we'd had dessert earlier at a board meeting for the car club). I also ordered a cocktail called a Pink Punk Cosmopolitan! It was a regular cosmo, but when they served it table side they poured it over cotton candy in another glass. It was a very fun drink and quite yummy too!
Sunday was laid back. We went to my parent's house and had lunch (homemade mac-n-cheese, my favorite!) We also had ice-cream cake (they bought one too!) Mint chocolate chip and chocolate cake of course! Caitie bought me a Barnes & Noble gift card (yay!) and my parent bought me some super cute new scrub tops! The best part is that they're tops I will definitely wear, but probably wouldn't have bought for myself.
Overall, I had a WONDERFUL birthday/Easter weekend! Thanks to all of my friends and family who helped make it great!

I'm glad you had a fun weekend! It was great to see you guys again! See you in a month!
